Reporting To: Chief Nurse
Salary: from RM 2200 - 3500
About the Role
A Confinement Nurse provides specialized postpartum care to mothers and newborns, ensuring their health, comfort, and recovery during the confinement period. This role includes physical care, emotional support, and professional guidance tailored to cultural practices and medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
Maternal Care
Assist with postpartum recovery, including monitoring vital signs, managing wounds, and supporting breastfeeding or bottle feeding.
Provide guidance on postpartum hygiene, diet, and exercises to promote recovery.
Prepare nutritious meals according to confinement dietary guidelines.
Infant Care
Handle and care for the newborn, including bathing, feeding, diaper changes, and sleep routines.
Monitor the baby’s health and development, reporting any concerns promptly.
Provide advice and techniques for soothing, feeding, and nurturing the baby.
Hygiene and Safety
Maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the mother's and baby's living spaces.
Adhere to health and safety standards to prevent infections or complications.
Emotional Support
Offer emotional reassurance and mental health support to new mothers.
Educate and assist family members in understanding postpartum needs and bonding with the baby.
Documentation and Communication
Maintain records of the mother's and baby's health and progress.
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and family members when needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Nursing diploma or certification in maternal and newborn care.
Experience: Fresh Grade /Proven experience as a Confinement Nurse, Midwife, or in postpartum care.
Certification: First Aid, CPR, or relevant nursing licenses.
Skills:
Knowledge of postpartum recovery and newborn care.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse family dynamics.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding of confinement practices (if applicable).
Working Conditions
Work Schedule: Flexible hours, often requiring live-in arrangements during the confinement period
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry a newborn, perform household tasks, and remain on-call during the confinement period.
